“As someone who worked in Seminaries & Institutes, BYUI, and BYU, I have been on several tours of church history sites and the Holy Land. I’ve also studied and taught courses on church history and doctrine. My experience this past July with Whitney and Rock Permann was something extra special and the highlight of my church history experiences. It was an incredibly uplifting experience. Whitney and Rock’s knowledge and life experiences blended together with their love and care for the group, made all the difference. My wife and I came away from our experience edified and uplifted. The group came together quickly and felt like “family.”
As I listened to Elder Stevenson’s latest conference talk on “Promptings of the Spirit,” his four points of 1) Stand in holy places, 2) Stand with holy people, 3) Testify of holy truths, and 4) Listen to the Holy Spirit, I couldn’t help but think that this was why our experience with this church history tour was so special. This is what we were doing every day of the tour. We came away with a greater appreciation of our past and more committed to a better future together!

I thought I had a pretty strong testimony before this trip. I thought my faith in God and Jesus Christ was really strong. But this tour REALLY changed me. It was so POWERFUL. I want my kids and grandkids and the ladies I minister to and my neighbors ... I want for them to learn what I learned, and feel what I felt. There may be many people who would tell you to put this tour on your "to do" list. But I promise you that this tour should be placed on your "To Be" list, better yet your "Become" list! This trip helped me long "to become" closer to my ancestors. "To become" more appreciative of the founding fathers of our nation, as well as the pioneers of our church. It helped me "to become" more humble, more willing to sacrifice, more full of charity for those in need. It helped me want "to become" a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. It helped me want "to become" a better child of God. This tour will "Become" a life changing event for you.

“I feel a renewed love for my pioneering ancestors and their struggles. I feel strengthened by the spirit I felt on the tour. I have a stronger testimony of Joseph Smith and his role in the restoration. Lots of great food. Bus was comfortable with our wonderful driver. I gained 28 new best friends. I had a great time! I can't stop sharing experiences with people I know. I would go again. Thanks!”

To be a part of this tour was amazing and will be unforgettable for eternity. This trip helped me look at myself as to where I need to be more like those early saints who were beat down, moved place to place forcefully, or even killed for what they believe. I love struggle, and hardship, and I love stories of overcoming. So this whole trip gave me that spiritual boost of the stories of triumph.
Logistics were spot on. Great food, clean and engaging bus ride, hotels were a lot better than many places I have stayed for work.
The layout was perfect for me. Starting at “the beginning” in Plymouth and Boston and then working west really put into perspective the workings of God in preparation for the restoration. Seeing places I had been to in the past with a different light pertaining to the Gospel made the trip more than a vacation. The friendship, fellowship, and good tidings of the group built on it as well. Then you add in the wonderful food, the personal stories from everyone, the clean bus and engaging bus driver. Perfection is divine, and because of the work that Rock and Whitney put into preparing this trip, we were all able to see the divinity of where we were.
Remember, your company will post your job opening before your obituary is out. Take the opportunity to live and enjoy life. This trip is and will be one of the most memorable experiences you have. See the journey of the early saints come to life, and have the spirit hit you square in the heart.

I was able to research and learn about my triple great grandmother Nancy Naomi Alexander Tracy — who lived in New York, Kirtland, Far West, and Nauvoo — before making the trek to Utah. I even got to find out about and then visit the exact lot where she and my triple great grandfather Moses Tracy lived near the temple in Nauvoo. I had only known a little about Moses, and hardly knew anything about Nancy — until I looked up information about them while on the tour. I love them now!
My wife and I loved the Church history tour, and want to go again! The experience was everything we had hoped for, and then even more — thanks to the Permann’s amazing planning of the trip itinerary and extra care for all of us. We also made several lifelong friends.

I loved learning about all the faithful saints that went on before us. Their sacrifices were incredible. I think my trials are hard until I hear someone else’s. I am more resolved to live a good life and to serve God’s children wherever I am.

This trip was on my bucket list but I never imagined how much it would mean to me to be at all those places. I gained a deeper love for the Smith family and the Quorum of the twelve and their families and even more. All the saints that sacrificed so much for the restoration of the Gospel. The early missionaries and their families. They just did what was asked of them from the Lord. Their powerful faith was such an example to us. Loved every minute of the trip.

Being 29 and having the opportunity to experience this tour in its entirety gave me the right experiences for the right time. I appreciate all the effort that went into creating memories and adventures. Being able to go to places like the Sacred Grove, Niagara Falls, Boston, Nauvoo, etc really allows you to feel the Restoration as it happened in "their" lives. I want to study more and go again.

Taking a part in this church history tour was a truly transformative experience for me. Visiting the sacred sites where our early saints walked and feeling a part of their journey ignited a fire within me. I returned home with a burning desire to learn more about our church history, something I had previously approached cautiously. But now, I am eager to dive deeper, to understand the complexities, and embrace our heritage fully.
What struck me the most was the profound impact this tour had on my faith. I felt a deep connection to the early saints, as if they are a part of my soul. It strengthened my testimony and deepened my love for our church. I now have a renewed passion to share this with my children, to bring them to these sacred places so they too can feel and see all that I did.
I am grateful for the experiences and connections made during this tour. It has truly changed my perspective and ignited a fire within me. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone seeking a deeper connection to church history and renewed passion for their faith. It is an experience that will leave a lasting impression on your spiritual journey.
